you're going to need one of these in new york

Shannon Doherty at the After Party

Boss took me to my first fashion show in New York; Gen Art's 14th Annual Fresh Faces in Fashion Runway Show and Party hosted by Shannon Doherty. The 13-year old girl inside of me was very excited to see Brenda in person. We took the M16 bus and the friendly bus driver let us pay partial fare since we didn't have enough change. We enjoyed the show and took photos of ourselves in Paris Hilton poses in front of the logo-screens afterwards.

Went to the after-party alone since my boss was too tired to come along. I took funny photos in the booth, found the VIP section by randomly following people where I watched taggers spray-paint a mural of the skyline and saw Shannon Doherty thisclose (photo above).

Played for a chance to win a T-Mobile Blackberry Curve phone and lost. Tried to talk one of the girls into giving me one by showing her my crappy phone (didn't work). She ended up feeling bad for me for being alone at the party and let me win one anyway, saying 'You're going to need one of these in New York'. I snuck her drinks in the bathroom as a thank you (it was open bar).

My new phone and I took cab home and spent the whole time discussing the merits and faults of living in New York City with the Pakistani driver.

traffic lights

The vanity of New York City is most obvious in the way she admires her reflection every fleeting second of the day. When I wait for traffic lights to change at street corners, I too admire its blue sky and tall buildings, bent and distorted in the tinted glass of buses and cars.
